Program Details
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations is launching a large mental health and well-being initiative for nearly 16 lakh students and 32,000 teachers in its affiliated schools. Starting on World Mental Health Day on October 10, the program features structured talks on student mental health, emotional wellness, resilience, and building supportive school environments.
Three Tiers
The first tier involves school-level dialogues from October 4-31 for students in classes 6 to 12. These weekly classroom discussions cover academic stress, digital life, substance abuse, and help-seeking habits. The second tier brings virtual regional conclaves across 18 regions from November 4-14 to pick student and teacher representatives. The program concludes with the CISCE National Student Mental Health Conclave from November 20-22 at the CISCE Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad, bringing together 72 students, 18 teacher mentors, experts, and leaders.
Context
School boards across India are increasingly focusing on student mental health to address rising academic pressure and personal challenges faced by teenagers. Structured programs like this help create safe spaces where students can talk openly about stress and get timely support from their schools.
