PVR Inox is planning a major expansion across the country by adding hundreds of new screens over the next few years. The company aims to open around 90 to 100 new screens in the financial year 2027. Following that, it plans to launch another 150 to 175 screens in the financial year 2028.
Expansion Strategy
This growth plan focuses heavily on Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 cities and towns. To reach audiences in these smaller markets, the cinema chain will introduce its new SMART Cinema format. The company expects to spend between ₹300 crore and ₹320 crore on capital expenditure for financial year 2027 while following a capital-light business approach.
Context
Multiplex chains in India often look beyond major metropolitan cities for growth as metro markets approach saturation. Smaller cities provide new audiences and lower real estate costs, making formats like SMART Cinema a key part of reaching these viewers.
