Delhi police filed a 400‑page charge sheet on September 18 accusing the driver and conductor of a Greater Noida bus of gang‑raping a 16‑year‑old girl on August 4. The court took cognizance of the case on September 24. The two accused have been charged under sections 70 (gang rape) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.## What Happened The victim, a Class 11 student from Mainpuri, boarded the bus at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida after the conductor told her it was heading to Noida Sector 63. Police say the driver and conductor allegedly assaulted her after the bus moved.

Investigation

The charge sheet includes forensic evidence such as biological samples, a piece of cloth and fingerprints collected from the bus, and a report from the Forensic Science Laboratory. Statements from 50 witnesses – including a security guard, the girl’s cousin, and owners of two bus‑repair shops in Surajpur and Malakpur – are recorded. Two CCTV recordings have also been documented.## Context Charges under the POCSO Act are used when victims are under 18, reflecting India’s legal framework for protecting children from sexual crimes. The extensive witness testimony and forensic evidence aim to strengthen the prosecution’s case.
