Farmers drove three hundred tractors through Pulivendula in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday to support the new Rayalaseema horticulture hub. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will lay the foundation stone for the project at Madanapalle on October 2 under the name 'Rising Rayalaseema'.

Project Funding and Support

The Centre will provide forty thousand crore rupees through the Purvodaya scheme. Another sixty thousand crore rupees is expected from private investment to develop and protect orchards in the area. District in-charge Minister S. Savitha flagged off the tractor rally and urged the district's three thousand cluster farmers to attend the upcoming launch event.

Local Leaders Speak

Collector Sridhar Cherukuri asked farmers to attend the event to learn about cultivation, water management, cold storage, and export opportunities. TDP constituency in-charge Mareddy Ravindranath Reddy praised the state leadership and credited Chief Minister Naidu for bringing irrigation water to the arid constituency from local reservoirs.

Context

Horticulture hubs and large agricultural schemes are often designed to boost local fruit and vegetable production by improving cold storage and export supply chains. Large-scale public and private funding partnerships help regions build better farming infrastructure and connect local growers to wider markets.
