In the Juvenile Turf, Joseph O'Brien's Folsom Blues entered as a prominent name following his runner-up finish behind Amusingly in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. Aidan O'Brien entered Haffner, the winner of the Grade Two Royal Lodge Stakes, alongside second-string runner Florida Bay. Other European visitors included Sale Shark trained by Hugo Palmer with Oisin Murphy, Pikachu with Charlie Johnston and David Egan, and Avec Toi from Christopher Head's stable in France. Among the American contenders, How's Al Today won three of four starts including the Juvenile Mile Stakes at Kentucky Downs.
