Indian benchmark indices finished the week on a higher note as buying in IT, healthcare, and select financial shares helped drive a recovery. The Nifty rose by two percent to reach 23,053.10, while the Sensex gained 1.8 percent to touch 74,459.53. Foreign institutional investors recorded net purchases of 6,304.67 crore rupees in the cash market during the week, and domestic institutional investors bought net shares worth 3,109.79 crore rupees. Despite this inflow, analysts point out that a single week of buying is not enough to reverse the broader selling trend seen in October.

Market Levels

Choice Broking Executive Director Sumeet Bagadia noted that the Nifty index recovered from an early dip of 22,905.10 to hit an intraday high of 23,118.10 before closing at 23,053.10, up by 116.35 points. However, the immediate upside on Dalal Street remains capped because the index has not yet reclaimed its 50-day exponential moving average near 23,160. Immediate support for the Nifty is placed between 22,800 and 22,900, while 23,150 to 23,200 acts as a crucial resistance zone. Meanwhile, the Bank Nifty lagged behind by advancing only 0.6 percent, with its setup remaining weak as it trades below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages.

Stock Picks

For Monday's trading session, analyst Sumeet Bagadia has recommended three shares to buy: Sun Pharma, IndiGo, and Infosys. Sun Pharma is showing strength after taking support at its 100-week moving average and closing above the previous week's high with noticeable volume. IndiGo has formed a strong bullish candle on the daily chart with increasing trading volume and has sustained above both its 20-day and 50-day moving averages. Infosys displays early signs of a bullish reversal on the weekly chart with a potential double bottom pattern taking shape and a bullish moving average crossover.

Context

Stock market analysts regularly track technical indicators like moving averages and institutional fund flows to gauge short-term market direction and investor sentiment. Key benchmarks like the Nifty and Sensex aggregate the performance of top companies listed on Indian stock exchanges to reflect overall market health.
