German companies are increasingly looking at Hyderabad as a base for innovation, research and technology development. The city's growing pharmaceutical ecosystem, engineering talent and global capability centres are drawing international businesses. Speaking at the Day of German Unity celebrations in Hyderabad on Friday, October 30, 2026, German Consul General Michael Hasper said companies were coming to develop the technologies and products of tomorrow. He pointed to the city's pool of skilled engineers, creative minds and ambitious young professionals as key drivers.
Local Leadership And Delegations
Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sports Vakiti Srihari named companies like Bosch, ZF, Bayer and Siemens while highlighting confidence in the local workforce. The State has hosted high-level delegations from German regions including Thuringia, Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony and Hamburg over the last two years. Mr. Srihari noted that Telangana wants to turn agreements into actionable programmes in skills development, technology, life sciences and German-language training.
Education And Bilateral Ties
Mr. Hasper noted that Germany needs skilled professionals such as engineers, IT specialists, technicians and healthcare workers. Around 70,000 Indian students currently study at German universities, making them the country's largest international student community. Regional Passport Officer Madhav R. Sulphule stated that Chancellor Friedrich Merz's visit to India in January 2026 gave fresh momentum to ties, alongside the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
Context
Global capability centres allow multinational firms to tap into regional talent pools for worldwide research and development operations. Stronger economic ties between India and European nations build on educational exchanges and mutual demand for skilled technical labor.
