A Bharatiya Janata Party worker suffered serious injuries following a clash between two rival groups in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.
What Happened
The violence broke out late Friday night near Mamata Medical Hall close to the Titagarh police station. The altercation followed a Bijoya Sammilani event organized by the local BJP mandal. One faction alleged that its members faced an attack from the opposing group right after the programme ended. Police teams rushed to the site and chased away the warring groups to restore order.
Medical Status
The injured party worker was identified as Karan Sheth. He initially received treatment at B.N. Bose Hospital in Barrackpore before doctors shifted him to Sagar Dutta Hospital in Kamarhati when his health worsened, according to party sources.
Context
Intra-party clashes during local political gatherings often stem from internal rivalries over local influence and organization control. Police forces frequently step in to manage public order when political events turn violent.
