Reliance Jio has launched four new prepaid voice-only plans in India following similar moves by Airtel and Vodafone Idea. This step follows recent instructions from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, which made it compulsory for telecom companies to include voice-only tariffs in their recharge catalogs.

The New Plans

The new recharge options start at 147 rupees, which is Jio's cheapest voice-only plan. According to Hindustan, the 147-rupee plan offers a validity of 22 days with unlimited calls on all networks and a total of 300 SMS. The 177-rupee plan provides a validity of 28 days with unlimited calls and 300 SMS. The 196-rupee plan lasts for 30 days and includes unlimited calls and 300 SMS. The 197-rupee plan comes with a full calendar month of validity, unlimited calls, and 300 SMS. None of these four plans include any mobile data benefits.

Existing Packs

Jio also continues to offer its existing voice-only packs priced at 448 rupees and 1,748 rupees. The 448-rupee plan has an 84-day validity and 1,000 SMS, while the 1,748-rupee plan offers a 336-day validity with 3,600 SMS. Both of these longer-term packs include bundled benefits such as JioTV and JioAICloud. For users who want a small amount of data under 200 rupees, Jio also offers a 189-rupee plan that provides 28 days of validity, unlimited voice calls, 300 SMS, and 2GB of data alongside JioTV and JioAICloud access.

Context

Voice-only plans are meant for users who use feature phones, carry multiple SIM cards, or rely entirely on Wi-Fi for internet access. These options give consumers a cheaper way to keep their calling services active without paying for data they do not use.
