A young boy lost his life after an aggressive street animal bit him in Kalaburagi on Friday evening. The victim was four-year-old Manoj, whose father Sharanappa works as a watchman in the city. The family hails from Jambaga village. The child was playing near his home in the Dariyapur area of the Housing Board Colony when the attack happened. People rushed him to the District Hospital with severe wounds, but he could not survive.
Further Attacks
The very next morning on Saturday, the same animal went after thirteen more victims during their early morning walks. These injured people are now receiving medical care at the same District Hospital. Officials suspect the animal had rabies. Local residents have filed a police case against the Kalaburagi City Corporation at the Station Bazar Police Station over the incident.
Context
Stray animal safety is a major public concern in many Indian urban centers where municipal bodies face pressure to manage animal populations and vaccination drives. Public anger typically rises after fatal incidents, leading to demands for better animal control and support for affected families.
