UPDATE - follow-up to India vs Pakistan Hockey Live Score, Asian Games 2026: Abhishek scores in the last minute, IND 4-3 PAK:

Semi-Final Thriller

India secured a narrow four-three victory over Pakistan in the men's hockey semi-final at the 2026 Asian Games, advancing to the gold medal match at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium. Captain Harmanpreet Singh struck twice in the first quarter, and Sukhjeet added a third in the second quarter following an assist from Shilanand Lakra, giving India an early three-goal advantage.

Defensive Lapses

Despite the strong start, defensive errors allowed Pakistan to mount a remarkable comeback. Pakistan earned six penalty corners in the first half alone, with captain Abu Mahmood converting the final one before halftime. Pakistan continued to pressure the Indian defense in the second half, wiping out the three-goal deficit entirely to level the score at three-three early in the final quarter, courtesy of goals including one by Waheed Rana.

Last-Minute Winner

Abhishek broke the deadlock in the final minute of the match, scoring off a deflection to seal the four-three win for India. Following the match, both teams engaged in warm handshakes, with both Indian players and the Pakistan coach participating in the sportsmanship after a tense contest.

Context

This match mirrors historic clashes between the two arch-rivals, though India holds a strong modern head-to-head record against Pakistan in recent decades. Both Indian men's and women's teams have now reached the Asian Games final for the first time since the 1998 Bangkok Asiad.
