Bajaj has officially launched the updated Pulsar NS400Z with a new TFT display at an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 1.90 lakh, following its recent dealership sighting. This new variant costs Rs 4,000 more than the standard model.

Features and Technology

The motorcycle gets a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster featuring Bluetooth connectivity, which Bajaj has also rolled out on the N160 SS, Pulsar 125, and Pulsar 150 this year. This display supports Google Maps mirroring for turn-by-turn navigation, music management, document storage, and a lap timer. According to Rushlane, it also supports Wi-Fi streaming and allows an Android phone's screen to stay off while mirroring maps. A USB Type-C charging port has been added alongside a panic brake alert system that turns on the hazard lights during hard braking. To control the cluster, the bike gets more sophisticated switchgear, while retaining all-LED lighting, sintered brake pads, and adjustable levers.

Engine and Performance

Underneath the updates, the mechanical parts remain the same. The bike uses a 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a 4-valve DOHC head that makes 40 horsepower at 9,000rpm and 33Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, a slipper clutch, a quick shifter, and an electronic throttle body. Other carried-over hardware includes four ride modes, traction control, a 43mm USD front fork, dual-channel ABS, and radial tyres. Bajaj Auto Ltd. Chief Business Officer Sarang Kanade stated that the update brings greater convenience and connectivity while preserving the engaging performance experience of the brand.

Context

Motorcycle manufacturers often update their flagship models with modern digital features like smartphone connectivity and navigation displays to match changing buyer preferences. Adding these tech upgrades while keeping the core engine performance untouched helps brands keep their existing lineup fresh without changing the fundamental ride dynamics.
