Bajaj Auto has officially launched the new Pulsar NS400Z TFT variant in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,90,015, following an earlier dealer spotting.

Features and Tech

The update introduces a new 5-inch TFT instrument cluster that replaces the older LCD unit, joining other models like the Pulsar N160, Pulsar 125, and Pulsar 150 that received the same display earlier this year. This cluster supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing riders to mirror Google Maps wirelessly for turn-by-turn navigation. Android users can keep their phone screen off while streaming maps. The display also handles music management, document storage, and a lap timer. Additional features include a USB Type-C charging port, a panic brake alert system that flashes hazard lights under hard braking, and more sophisticated switchgear to navigate the screen and switch between four riding modes: Road, Rain, Sport, and Off-Road.

Performance and Specs

Underneath the new technology package, the motorcycle retains its mechanical setup. It is powered by the same 349cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve DOHC engine that puts out 40 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 33 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox, slipper clutch, quick shifter, electronic throttle, and a power-to-weight ratio of 229 PS per ton. Hardware items such as the 43mm upside-down front forks, dual-channel ABS, radial tyres, traction control, sintered brake pads, and adjustable levers are carried over from the standard version. The new TFT variant costs roughly Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 more than previous base prices depending on the exact comparison baseline.

Executive Quote

Sarang Kanade, Chief Business Officer for the Two-wheeler Business Unit at Bajaj Auto Ltd., stated that the brand has evolved over 25 years to meet rider needs while keeping its performance edge. He noted that the update adds advanced technology and connectivity to make the riding experience more intuitive.

Context

Bajaj Auto relies heavily on its popular Pulsar series as a core driver of its motorcycle sales in India. Upgrading mass-market and performance models with modern connected features like smartphone mirroring and digital displays is a common industry trend to attract younger, tech-savvy buyers.
