Examination Details

Jharkhand is conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test after a long gap of ten years. A total of 5,65,916 candidates are taking part in the examination across 986 test centres located in all 24 districts of the state. The administration has made extensive security and monitoring arrangements to ensure a fair and transparent process, following recent irregularities reported in other recruitment tests.

Shift Timings And Rules

The examination is being conducted in two shifts. The first shift is for candidates of classes six to eight and runs from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, with entry starting at 7:30 AM and the main gate closing at 9:00 AM. The second shift is for classes one to five, operating from 2:00 PM to 4:00 or 4:30 PM, with entry permitted between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM. Candidates must carry a clear printout of their admit card, an original photo identity card, and a transparent ballpoint pen. Electronic items, watches, books, and bags are strictly prohibited at the venues.

Security Measures

Administration oversight extends beyond the test centres to strong rooms, CCTV systems, cyber cells, traffic control, fire services, and emergency medical arrangements in sadar hospitals, while prohibitory orders are enforced in sensitive zones. According to Hindustan, Jamtara Deputy Commissioner Alok Kumar stated that maintaining examination fairness is the top district priority and warned against spreading fake question papers or misleading rumors on platforms like YouTube, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Eligible candidates with visual impairments or cerebral palsy receive an extra thirty minutes of time along with scribe facilities.

Context

Teacher eligibility tests serve as a mandatory screening benchmark for individuals aiming to secure teaching positions in government-run and state-approved schools. Large-scale public service examinations in India routinely involve extensive multi-tier logistical planning, tight entry cutoff windows, and strict electronic device bans to prevent malpractice. Authorities frequently deploy specialized cyber monitoring units during major tests to quickly detect and remove unverified social media claims or fake question papers.
