Kannada must evolve into a language of technology and knowledge, said Mandya district minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy on November 1, 2026. He delivered the remarks after hoisting the flag at the 71st Kannada Rajyothsava Day celebrations in Sir M Visvesvaraya Stadium, Mandya. Cheluvarayaswamy noted that Mandya has the highest share of Kannada speakers in Karnataka and has long contributed to the state’s literary and cultural fields. The ceremony honoured 30 achievers with the district‑level Kannada Rajyothsava award. He announced that roughly 450 acres of land have been earmarked to provide sites for about 15,000 families without homes. The Mandya Zilla Panchayat’s “Stree Shakti Anavarana” tableau, which took part in the Vijayadashami procession of Mysuru Dasara, won first prize. He highlighted the success of “Akka Cafe” outlets run by women’s self‑help groups in Pandavapura and Srirangapatna and said the government will expand the model to other taluks. For the first time in Karnataka, the Mugulnage Sinchana programme offering free dental care at primary health centres has been launched in Mandya. In revenue reforms, the district resolved 27,000 disputes, issued 1.72 lakh inheritance khatas, linked Aadhaar to 18 lakh RTC records and digitised 3.8 crore pages of land records. Officials present included MLA P. Ravikumar, Deputy Commissioner Kumar, Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini and Superintendent of Police Shobharani and other officials. ## Context The push to make Kannada a language of technology aligns with Karnataka’s broader effort to integrate regional languages into digital and AI platforms, while the revenue digitisation forms part of the state’s e‑governance drive.
