Officers caught a 19-year-old with fake Indian currency notes worth sixty lakh rupees at the Secunderabad Railway Station on October 31.
Arrest Details
The Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force caught the teenager, named Shivratan Mahiya, during checks on Platform 10. He comes from Kalyansar village in Bikaner district, Rajasthan, and was carrying a black backpack filled with 12 bundles of fake 500-rupee notes in the general coach of the Mumbai LTT Express.
Travel Route
Police say Mahiya brought the fake money from Jaipur and planned to take it to Mumbai. He met his associate, Om Prakash, a 25-year-old from Jaitasar village who has a past criminal record in Rajasthan, after facing money troubles. Prakash offered him two lakh twenty thousand rupees to move the cash. Mahiya took the backpack at Jaipur Station on October 28, traveled to Kacheguda first, and then moved to Secunderabad after floods cancelled his original train.
Context
Fake currency networks often use young people facing money problems as couriers to move illegal cash across states by train. Railway police routinely check platforms and trains to catch such illegal activities before the fake notes enter local markets.
