New Projects

The Kallanchira check dam in Wayanad will become a major tourist spot with new boating and kayaking services. Kaniyambetta grama panchayat plans to build walking paths, seating zones, and a children's park near the check dam.

Development Plan

These works form part of the 'Ever Shine Kaniyambetta-2030' program, which aims to improve the hill district over five years. Panchayat president V.P. Yoosuf stated that the project brings together tourism, farming, heritage protection, better roads, and air travel links.

More Works

The Mulaparambath canal area will get a play area, open gym, walking paths, resting spots, green spaces, and solar lamps. Panamkandi will see a renewed public swimming pool with swimming lessons and a new cafeteria. The Kavadam-Cheekkalloor road will be widened with interlocking tiles, footpaths, and solar streetlights.

Parks and Museums

Thazhe Varadoor will feature a children's happiness park with modern play items, an open stage, and drinking water facilities under the Destination Challenge scheme. The Chittoor Tribes Museum will display local Adivasi heritage, traditional art, and old musical instruments.

Farming and Coffee

Ambalakunnu will house a seed storage and processing unit to give farmers good seeds and saplings while storing traditional rice types. The Wayanad Coffee project aims to boost coffee sales, raise grower earnings, and promote farm tourism.

Context

Local government bodies in Kerala often roll out multi-year infrastructure and tourism schemes to boost rural economies. These initiatives combine travel promotion with support for local agriculture and cultural heritage preservation.
