Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 25,027 units in the domestic market during September 2026, marking a 7.61 percent drop from the 27,089 units sold a year earlier. Sales also fell 11.91 percent compared to August 2026, when the company sold 28,410 vehicles.

Sales Breakdown

Total September sales reached 28,218 units when including exports, down 9.24 percent from 31,091 units in September 2025. Overseas shipments dropped 20.26 percent to 3,191 units from 4,002 units the previous year. Domestic sales accounted for roughly 72 percent of the overall volume reduction. During the July to September quarter, total sales slipped to 93,576 vehicles from 97,902 units in the same period last year, driven largely by a 22.09 percent drop in exports.

Nine-Month Growth

Despite the recent monthly slowdown, Toyota's total sales for the first nine months of 2026 rose 8.10 percent to 2,94,914 units compared to 2,72,824 units in the corresponding period of 2025. Domestic sales during these nine months grew 9.12 percent to 2,69,619 units, while exports dipped slightly by 1.74 percent to 25,295 units. Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President for Sales, Service, and Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, noted that customer interest remained steady across segments in September due to the brand's focus on quality, durability, and reliability. He added that the company will partner closely with dealers during the festive season to boost engagement and meet buyer needs, with an updated Glanza launch scheduled later in the month.

Context

Automobile manufacturers in India often see fluctuating monthly sales figures ahead of major festive periods as buyers and dealers adjust inventory levels. While monthly and quarterly dips reflect short-term demand shifts, cumulative yearly growth numbers provide a clearer picture of overall market performance over an extended period.
