Representative image · PexelsThe Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric has arrived in India as the most powerful vehicle on sale in the country, packing 1,156 horsepower and a price tag of Rs 2.28 crore. Testing took place on the Aamby Valley airstrip, where the dual-motor SUV demonstrated its certified 2.5-second zero-to-100kph time using launch control.
Performance And Handling
During high-speed runway runs, the vehicle pushed past its stated top speed of 260kph before heavy braking caused the massive 420mm discs to squeal under the strain of arresting 2.7 tonnes. On the twisting roads near Lonavala, the car displayed noticeable body roll due to the absence of the optional Active Ride Control system, though it easily transitioned into a smooth, refined cruiser for navigating city streets.
Interior And Design
Inside, the Cayenne features a cascading curved touchscreen, physical controls, and a 3,023mm wheelbase that provides a 747-litre boot alongside a 90-litre frunk. The exterior styling is large and bulky, featuring 21-inch wheels, active aero vanes, and aerodynamic flaps on the rear bumper stamped with the GPS coordinates of Porsche's wind tunnel.
Context
High-performance electric vehicles often deliver immense straight-line acceleration figures that surpass traditional supercars while maintaining everyday usability. However, testing such heavy vehicles at extreme speeds places intense mechanical demands on components like braking systems and tyres.
