Release Delay
The theatrical release of the comedy film Udta Teer has been pushed from October 9 to October 23. This marks the second delay for the project, which was initially planned for a September 11 premiere. According to a press note from the production team, the schedule change aims to secure a cleaner release window and avoid a crowded October marketplace. Bollywood Hungama also noted that veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared this update on X, confirming the makers wanted a clearer period for better audience reach.
Box Office Clash
The shift follows the massive box-office opening of Ajay Devgn-led Drishyam 3, which crossed 50 crore rupees on its October 2 release day. The crowded month also features several other notable titles. India's official Oscar 2027 entry, Gondhal, begins exclusive preview screenings on October 9. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao's Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam and Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli are scheduled to hit screens on October 16.
Cast and Plot
Ayushmann Khurrana described his role as a Pakistani spy who loses his memory and mistakenly supports India, blending comedy and patriotism. Directed by Akash A Kaushik in his directorial debut, the movie features an ensemble cast including Sara Ali Khan, Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe. The project is backed by producers Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain through a collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.
Context
Major film releases often adjust their theatrical schedules to avoid competing directly with blockbuster hits or crowded festival windows. Securing a clear weekend allows a movie to retain more screens and maximize box-office collections over a longer run.
