Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's Udta Teer Pushed to October 23

UPDATE - follow-up to Ayushmann Khurrana-led Udta Teer postponed amid Drishyam 3's ₹50 crore-plus box-office opening: 'Choosing a cleaner release window': The release date of Udta Teer has been shifted from October 9 to October 23.

Why It Moved

The makers pushed the film to avoid a crowded October and secure a cleaner theatrical window. As noted by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on X, the studio wants to give the project better space and fewer competing releases. This follows the massive opening day of Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3, which crossed ₹60 crore on October 2. Other upcoming releases include India's official Oscar 2027 entry Gondhal with preview screenings on October 9, along with Rajkummar Rao's Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam and Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli on October 16.

Cast and Creators

Directed by Akash A Kaushik in his directorial debut, the film stars Ayushmann Khurrana as a memory-losing Pakistani spy who accidentally supports India, creating a pro-India patriotic comedy. The ensemble cast features Sara Ali Khan, Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar, and Smita Tambe. It is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.

Context

Film studios often adjust release calendars to prevent box-office clashes, ensuring maximum screen counts and better audience turnout during busy festival or holiday seasons. This marks the third date change for Udta Teer, which was originally slated for September 11 before moving to October and now late October.
