The theatrical release of the upcoming film Udta Teer has been pushed from October 9 to October 23. Veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared this update on X, noting that the two-week delay helps the film avoid a crowded box office window. According to a press note from the makers, the move aims to give the project a cleaner release period and better screen availability as Drishyam 3 crosses the Rs 60 crore mark on its opening day.
Cast and Crew
Directed by Akash A Kaushik in his directorial debut, the movie features Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. The large ensemble cast also includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar, and Smita Tambe. It is backed by producers Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain through a collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.
Plot and Genre
Ayushmann Khurrana described the project as a return to his core style of unconventional content. He plays a Pakistani spy who loses his memory and ends up supporting India while forgetting his actual country of origin. The actor noted that the project blends patriotism and comedy into a genre-defying family entertainer.
Context
Film studios frequently adjust theatrical release dates to secure optimal screen counts and avoid clashing with major box office hits. A less crowded release window allows a movie to sustain its run in theatres without losing screens to competing titles.
