Indian stock markets opened higher on Monday, November 2, 2026, driven by a strong rise in shares of Reliance Industries and lower oil prices.

Market Gains

The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 764.72 points to reach 75,216.80 during early trade. At the same time, the 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 201.40 points to hit 23,255.90. Market optimism was further supported by foreign fund inflows and positive trends across Asian equities.

Key Movers

Shares of Reliance Industries jumped over 6 percent after the company reported a record quarterly profit of ₹29,550 crore for the July to September period, marking a 33.8 percent increase from the previous year. Other major gainers included NTPC, Tata Steel, Power Grid, Maruti, and State Bank of India. Meanwhile, firms like Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra, Titan, and Infosys saw declines.

Expert View and Global Cues

Global oil benchmark Brent crude traded 3 percent lower at $110 per barrel, down from the previous week's high of $118. Geojit Investments Limited Chief Investment Strategist V.K. Vijayakumar noted that falling oil prices, a drop in the U.S. 10-year bond yield to 4.93 percent, and a cooling artificial intelligence trade in the U.S. have provided a helpful counter-play environment for India. Foreign Institutional Investors purchased equities worth ₹3,598.54 crore on Friday, while stock indexes in South Korea, Japan, Shanghai, and Hong Kong all traded higher.

Context

Major stock market indexes in India regularly react to corporate earnings reports from bellwether companies and shifts in international commodity prices like crude oil. External financial factors, including foreign institutional investments and trends in major global markets, often shape daily trading sentiment on domestic exchanges.
