The Karnataka government is launching the second edition of the Bengaluru Skill Summit, running for three days starting Tuesday at The Lalit Ashok hotel in the city. The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood is hosting the event.

Partners and Scale

The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation organizes the event alongside the Karnataka Skill Development Authority. The Karnataka Digital Economy Mission acts as the knowledge partner, Trescon manages the event, and Japan joins as the country partner. Organizers expect over 6,500 people to attend, featuring 150 speakers and more than 50 exhibitors to connect government officials, industry leaders, schools, and young workers.

Core Themes

Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, who serves as the Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, stated that the state aims to build a workforce ready for modern industry needs and global economic changes. The event centers on four main tracks. The first track covers emerging skills like artificial intelligence, green jobs, the digital economy, and Industry 4.0. The second track focuses on inclusion for women, youth, informal workers, and gig economy workers. The third and fourth tracks deal with innovation and global skills to help local workers find jobs worldwide.

Goals and Future Plans

E.V. Ramana Reddy, Chairman of the Karnataka Skill Development Authority, noted that the Workforce 2030 initiative aims to improve how the state trains and deploys talent over the long term.

Context

Events of this scale help connect educational institutions with corporate employers to bridge skill gaps in fast-growing sectors like technology. State governments frequently partner with international delegations and industry bodies to align regional training programs with global market demands.
