The elevated section of Bangalore’s Namma Metro Pink Line is slated for a November 13 opening, MP L.S. Tejasvi Surya hinted on X. The stretch that is ready measures 7.5 km and includes six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM‑B, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere. This segment forms part of a 21.3‑km corridor that will push the city’s operational network length from 96.10 km to 103.60 km once fully commissioned. The remaining 13.8 km runs underground, linking Dairy Circle to Tannery Road through M.G. Road and Shivajinagar, and will join the southern suburbs with the central business district. Earlier this week, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar noted a mid‑November inauguration, while the state awaits a formal date from the Union government for the Prime Minister’s representative. Sources at Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd said no official communication has arrived yet. When the line becomes fully operational, it is expected to ease travel for many office‑goers by providing a direct north‑south route across the city.

Context

The Pink Line extension is the latest phase in Bangalore’s push to expand rapid‑rail coverage, a move aimed at reducing road congestion and offering faster commutes for the growing urban workforce.
