Dozens of local residents raided a mini-truck carrying alcohol after the vehicle crashed into a road divider on Friday near the Kharhat Toll Plaza. The consumption, sale, and transport of alcohol is banned across Bihar. The truck bore an Assam registration number, and both the driver and the cleaner fled the scene immediately after the accident. News of the illegal cargo quickly spread through the area, drawing a large crowd that included women and children. People grabbed individual bottles and even whole cartons while social media video clips and photos of the incident rapidly caught the attention of district police headquarters. ## The Police Action More police officers rushed to the site, but by the time they arrived, most of the liquor was already gone. Sadar sub divisional police officer Sushil Kumar stated that officials are now scrutinising CCTV footage and social media videos to identify everyone who took the bottles. Kumar confirmed that all individuals involved in the looting will be arrested, and police are also actively searching for the escaped driver. Authorities suspect the truck brought the shipment from Assam or West Bengal and was headed toward Bihar districts via Seemanchal. Raniganj police have seized the vehicle and are trying to track down the owner and the wider supply network. ## Context Bihar has enforced a strict state-wide alcohol ban for years, making the transport and possession of any liquor illegal. Road accidents involving hidden contraband often draw immediate public attention and chaotic scenes in regions where such items are strictly prohibited.
