The University of Delhi has granted a one-time exemption from its 28-credit promotion requirement for students admitted in the 2025-26 academic year. Students who have completed one year of study under the NEP Undergraduate Curriculum Framework-2022 will not need to secure at least 28 out of 44 credits to move to the next academic year.

Details of Change

The DU Examination Branch issued this notification to partially modify its earlier orders from July 21 and September 2, 2025. The university emphasized that this relaxation is restricted strictly to the 2025-26 batch as a one-time measure and does not scrap the 28-credit rule permanently for all students. Other provisions from the previous notifications remain unchanged, meaning future batches cannot claim the same exemption.

Context

Delhi University periodically updates its academic guidelines and examination bylaws to address implementation challenges in the credit-based promotion system. Educational institutions often make temporary adjustments to new curriculum frameworks to help students adapt during transitional phases.
