Representative image · PexelsIndian benchmark indices fell for the eighth straight week amid foreign fund outflows, rising bond yields, and ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Elevated crude oil prices and a weaker rupee also caused a broad market sell-off, though IT shares bucked the trend. The Nifty 50 finished at 22,421 and the BSE Sensex dropped nearly 2,000 points, while the Bank Nifty ended at 54,450. Choice Broking Executive Director Sumeet Bagadia noted that the Nifty is nearing its near-term support at 22,200. He added that a move above 22,600 is needed for a stronger recovery, comparing the current eight-week decline to a seven-week drop seen in 2008. For the Bank Nifty, Bagadia pointed to a sell-on-rise structure with critical support at 53,843. If that support holds, he expects a rebound towards 55,000 to 55,200.
Stock Picks
Bagadia recommended five stocks priced under 100 rupees. Sagility has a buy price of 43.17 rupees, a target of 46.50 rupees, and a stop loss of 41.50 rupees. Ujjivan SFB is recommended at 65.60 rupees, with a target of 71 rupees and a stop loss of 62.50 rupees. NTPC Green Energy has a buy price of 91 rupees, a target of 99 rupees, and a stop loss of 87 rupees. Bajaj HFL is recommended at 82.91 rupees, with an 89 rupee target and a 79 rupee stop loss. Finally, Jayaswal Neco Industries has a buy price of 91.28 rupees, a target of 100 rupees, and a stop loss of 86.70 rupees.
Context
Stock market indexes move up and down based on global economic factors, corporate earnings, and investor sentiment. When foreign investors pull money out of domestic markets due to global uncertainties or rising overseas bond yields, major stock indexes typically face heavy downward pressure.
