The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has prohibited the sale of Nestle's reduced‑fat milk whitener after a sample taken from a top Delhi hotel was judged unsafe and below standard. The sample came from The Lalit hotel, operated by Bharat Hotels Ltd., in New Delhi. Food analyst reports prepared under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, flagged the product as unsafe and substandard. Following the analysis, FSSAI posted the decision on its X account, stating the ban effective immediately. The move stops the product from being sold in the hotel and any other outlet until further notice.
Context
Regulatory bans like this are issued when a food item does not meet the safety criteria set by Indian law, protecting consumers from potential health risks.
