LDL Cholesterol Realities
Being young or fit does not stop high cholesterol, as genetic or metabolic causes play a role. A normal lab range does not mean a safe personal target, since ideal levels depend on individual health risks. High LDL builds plaque quietly over time before any chest pain begins. Healthy habits help, but some people still need medicines like PCSK9 inhibitors or siRNA treatments.
Post-Procedure Care
Procedures like stenting or bypass surgery open blocked blood vessels or create new routes, but they do not clear cholesterol from the blood. High-risk patients may need an LDL target below 55 mg/dL. The Cardiology Society of India advises routine lipid tests from age 18.
Context
High cholesterol is often called a silent condition because fatty deposits build up in arteries over many years without producing noticeable physical symptoms. Regular blood tests remain the only reliable way to catch elevated levels before serious cardiovascular events occur.
