Key Areas
The pact covers five main areas including student projects, student exchange, joint degrees, academic programmes, and staff training. Professors from both colleges will guide undergraduate projects starting from the third year and postgraduate projects from the first semester. Students can join summer and winter internships, short courses, and workshops at either campus, while also getting access to specialized labs at IIT Kanpur.
Leadership Statements
BIT Mesra Vice-Chancellor Prof Indranil Manna signed the pact alongside IIT Kanpur Director Prof Manindra Agrawal. Manna noted that the partnership will help students and faculty tackle problems of national importance. He added that strong institutions and skilled workers will support India's path toward Viksit Bharat @2047 through joint research and new technologies.
Context
Partner agreements between technical institutes help pool academic resources and lab infrastructure to improve research output. Such collaborations are common in the higher education sector to give students exposure beyond their home campus.
