West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee of joining hands to protect illegal immigrants in the country. Speaking to reporters at Bagdogra airport in Siliguri on Tuesday, Mr. Adhikari claimed that both leaders were fighting to keep infiltrators in India. He stated that the central government and the Election Commission of India were working to drive out illegal immigrants. The remarks came just two days after the INDIA bloc held a rally in Delhi over alleged electoral irregularities, an event that Ms. Banerjee attended. Mr. Adhikari also criticized the Bengal Chief Minister over her participation in the Delhi rally at Ramlila Maidan, alleging that she had not been invited to inaugurate any Durga Puja in West Bengal. Following his arrival in north Bengal, Mr. Adhikari is scheduled to attend a party programme and a State government event on Tuesday.
