Hardik Pandya May Move to Punjab Kings in IPL Trade

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is reportedly set to join the Punjab Kings franchise in the Indian Premier League.

Trade Details

According to reports, Punjab fast bowler Arshdeep Singh could move to Mumbai Indians as part of this player trade. Sources close to the league indicate that talks between Mumbai and Punjab are nearly complete, and an official announcement is expected soon.

Mumbai's Recent Struggles

Hardik rejoined Mumbai Indians in 2024 after leaving Gujarat Titans, taking over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma. However, the team failed to reach the playoffs for the last three consecutive seasons under his leadership. Rumours also linked him with other teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings before these new reports emerged. Meanwhile, speculation suggests Rohit Sharma could return as Mumbai captain.

Context

IPL player trades allow franchises to exchange players before an upcoming season outside of the main auction process. Such moves often happen when teams want to restructure their squad after failing to secure a playoff spot in recent years.
