Director Amit Rai and Producers Part Ways on OMG 3 Over Creative Differences
Reported by Deepak Mishra (Copy Editor) · Bollywood Hungama ·
Director Amit Rai and the producers of the third instalment in the OMG franchise have reportedly parted ways following a prolonged period of creative disagreements. The film, which is tentatively titled Oh My Goddess, has hit another roadblock during its development stage.
Key Issues
The disputes between Rai and the makers went beyond the screenplay. Sources close to certain OTT platforms state that disagreements also involved the casting of the lead actor and the proposed release strategy. Previously, reports suggested that actor Rani Mukerji was considered to lead the film, but her association did not materialise due to reported differences with Rai. Producers have since been working on restructuring the project and exploring new casting options.
What's Next
The makers now plan to continue with the project without Rai and could bring a new director on board. Neither Amit Rai nor the producers have released an official statement regarding the reported split.
Context
Franchise films in the Indian film industry often go through major changes in their creative teams during early development when directors and producers disagree on key business and artistic choices. The OMG series previously released two successful films in 2012 and 2023.
