Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a new digital platform called 'Satyagraha' on Saturday to map and connect resistance movements across the country. According to The Hindu, the platform went live on October 3, 2026, and received more than 10,000 responses within its first nine hours. Mr Gandhi stated in a video that truth was being suppressed and that he wanted to help organise these protests and work with people to help resolve their issues.

Protests And Detentions

Meanwhile, opposition leaders, civil society groups and youth organisations continued street protests for the second day, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision of electoral rolls. Delhi Police detained around 150 protesters as they marched from Patel Chowk towards Jantar Mantar. Those detained included All India Students' Association national president Neha Bora, activists Yogendra Yadav and Anjali Bharadwaj, and Supreme Court advocate Prashant Bhushan, while independent Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal joined the march without being detained. Additionally, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded the dissolution of the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, claiming all recent elections were illegal.

Context

Digital activism platforms are increasingly used by political figures to gather citizen grievances and build grassroots support outside traditional party channels. The protests centre on election administration processes and the voter list revision exercises managed by the poll panel.
