The key benchmark indices of the Indian stock market continued to face heavy selling pressure due to foreign fund outflows, rising US bond yields, and ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Elevated crude oil prices and a falling rupee added to the domestic equity sell-off, though IT shares bucked this downward trend. The Nifty 50 index finished at 22,421, marking a weekly loss for the eighth consecutive session. The Bank Nifty index ended at 54,450.
Expert Outlook
Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking, noted that the market bias has weakened further as the Nifty 50 approaches its near-term support at 22,200. Bagadia stated that a sustained move above 22,600 is important for a stronger recovery. He highlighted that the put-call ratio sits at 0.99, indicating a balanced options setup, with immediate support at 22,100 to 22,200 and resistance at 22,600 and 22,800.
Top Stock Picks
For trading on Monday, Sumeet Bagadia recommended five breakout stocks: Siemens Energy India, Aadhar Housing Finance, Styrenix, Tata Communications, and Sudarshan Chemicals. Siemens Energy showed expansion in daily price action with volume support, while Aadhar Housing Finance improved after breaking above recent session highs near its major support zone. Styrenix and Sudarshan Chemicals also displayed positive price action supported by volume and technical indicators.
Context
Stock market corrections driven by global economic factors and foreign institutional investor outflows are common occurrences in emerging markets. Technical analysts closely monitor support and resistance levels like those on the Nifty 50 to gauge potential trend reversals during periods of sustained selling.
