Duplicate voter IDs uncovered in Karnataka after roll clean‑up
Reported by Aditya Chauhan (Staff Writer) · The Hindu - National ·
The special intensive revision in Karnataka left 803 voter IDs tied to just 397 individuals in the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency. In several cases more than three IDs were issued under a single name. The same EPIC number was found in two different constituencies. Two voter IDs were recorded for the same polling station. ## Context The EPIC is the unique number printed on every voter ID card. The SIR exercise was meant to remove duplicate entries from electoral rolls. Finding multiple IDs for one person or the same number in separate areas shows the clean‑up is still incomplete.
