Biocon Second Quarter Profit Drops Sharply Due to Late Shipments
Reported by Rohit Yadav (Staff Writer) · Business Standard - Top Stories ·
Biocon reported a sharp fall in net profit for the second quarter of the 2027 financial year. Consolidated net profit dropped by 52 per cent compared to the same period last year, coming down to 41 crore rupees.
Financial Details
Delayed shipments worth about 20 million dollars hit company margins during the quarter. Even with this profit drop, total revenue showed a small increase. Revenue grew by 2 per cent to reach 4,389 crore rupees.
Context
Delays in product shipments and supply chain issues often impact the quarterly earnings of major pharmaceutical and biotech companies. When products cannot be shipped on time, revenue recognition gets pushed back while operating costs continue, which usually puts pressure on profit margins.
