Actor Bhagyashree revealed in an interview earlier this year that she kept her wedding mehendi intact on her hands for a full year after marrying businessman and producer Himalay Dassani. During a January chat with Hauterrfly, Bhagyashree shared that she cared more about having mehendi than her wedding outfit, telling her mother-in-law to buy any saree as long as she got her mehendi. Whenever the design started to fade, she would call the mehendi artist back or sit down with a bowl of mehendi and apply it herself using a toothpick. She also shared last year that Himalay had never truly proposed to her when they first got married following her hit 1989 debut film Maine Pyaar Kiya. To make up for it, Himalay surprised her during a photoshoot by going down on his knees while playing a song, with candid pictures of the moment captured by photographer Prashant Samtani.

Family and Film Background

Bhagyashree and Himalay share two children, a son named Abhimanyu Dassani and a daughter named Avantika Dassani. Abhimanyu entered Bollywood in 2019 with the film Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Avantika made her acting debut in 2022 with the web series Mithya, a psychological show that also featured Huma Qureshi, Parambrata Chatterjee, Rajit Kapur, and Samir Soni.

Context

Mehendi is a traditional form of body art in South Asia deeply tied to weddings and celebrations, where brides often wear intricate designs on their hands and feet. Celebrity personal lives and throwback anecdotes frequently draw high public interest, especially when tied to classic hit films from past decades like Maine Pyaar Kiya.
