The updated Skoda Slavia sedan arrives with a fresh set of changes, marking its first major mid-life update since its launch. The car retains its 115hp and 178Nm 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine along with the 150hp and 250Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol motor. A key mechanical update is the new eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre engine, replacing the previous six-speed unit. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre variant uses a snappy seven-speed DSG transmission.

Handling And Cabin

The vehicle maintains precise handling and high-speed stability, keeping body roll in check despite a 179mm ground clearance. Inside, the cabin features updated trim materials, supportive front and rear seats, ample knee and foot room, and a 521-litre boot with 60:40 split-folding seats. New equipment includes powered and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charging, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, and a rear seat massaging function borrowed from the Kushaq. AC performance also improves due to a new variable geometry compressor.

Drawbacks

On the downside, the suspension exhibits a firm low-speed ride typical of European cars, and buyers of the 1.5-litre engine miss out on a manual gearbox option since it comes paired only with the seven-speed DCT.

Context

Mid-life facelifts help carmakers keep their existing models fresh and competitive against newer rivals in the busy mid-size sedan market. Automakers frequently update gearboxes, feature lists, and interior amenities during these refreshes to attract modern buyers without changing the core platform.
