Internationally, the film earned just over $6 million in its first three days. The opening weekend figures place it as the seventh biggest opening weekend for a Hindi film, beating both War and Tiger 3 while nearly matching Sultan.

Cast And Milestones

The strong start has already pushed Drishyam 3 past the lifetime collections of several recent big-budget releases. These include Ajay Devgn's own Raid 2 at ₹ 243 crore, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par at ₹ 266 crore, and Akshay Kumar's Bhooth Bangla at ₹ 247 crore. The film is directed by Abhishek Pathak and brings back actors Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Kamlesh Sawant, and Saurabh Shukla. New cast members include Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj.

Context

Sequels to popular suspense and thriller franchises often draw massive crowds to theatres during opening weekends because audiences already know and care about the characters. Major holiday releases and well-known actors frequently help drive high advance ticket sales in the Indian film market. Films that perform strongly in their first few days typically look to maintain steady ticket sales during the weekdays to set new box office records.
