Major brands like Google, Spotify, Apple, IndiGo, Adobe, Samsung and GitHub offer these special deals, though rules and verification requirements vary by company. Google offers university students aged 18 and above a free one-year subscription to Google AI Plus. Announced on August 19, the offer runs until December 31, and includes Gemini usage limits, 400GB of cloud storage, Gemini Omni access, and unlimited uploads for Study Notebooks, Visuals and Live. After the free year, the plan costs ₹399 per month unless cancelled. For entertainment, both Spotify Premium Student and Apple Music cost ₹69 per month for eligible users. Apple Music also includes Apple TV access, and students can keep this special price for up to four years. Meanwhile, IndiGo provides up to 10% off domestic flight base prices and an extra 10 kg of baggage space using a real student ID or acceptance letter. Apple's Education Store offers discounts on Macs and iPads, with the MacBook Air starting at ₹137,900, while Samsung's Student Advantage programme gives up to 10% off eligible Galaxy products for students at select institutes. Adobe offers a free one-year Photoshop annual plan for students in India, priced at ₹0 instead of the usual ₹1,999 per year. Users must share college details, set up UPI AutoPay authorisation with a token charge of around ₹2, and cancel before the year ends to avoid charges. Photoshop can then be downloaded via Adobe Creative Cloud for the 12-month period.
Context
Student discount programmes help technology and entertainment companies build long-term brand loyalty among young consumers early on. Many global platforms use verified student status checks through third-party services to ensure only genuine learners receive these lower rates. These offers allow students to access professional software and travel perks that might otherwise stretch a tight college budget.
