Bihar Health Department Announces Major Drive to Fill Over 11,000 Posts
Reported by Shreya Kapoor (Senior Writer) · The Hindu - National ·
Bihar is set to recruit staff for more than 11,000 administrative, technical, and medical support positions in its health department.
Hiring Process
State Health Society Executive Director Nawal Kishore Chaudhary stated that the official notification for this hiring drive will likely be issued by the last week of November. Authorities are currently gathering updated details of empty posts from all 38 districts across the state, including data from Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, and Sub-Divisional Hospitals. A recruitment calendar will also be released soon.
Roles and Phases
The first phase includes hiring for positions such as Staff Nurses, Laboratory Technicians, managerial roles, Block Health Managers, block-level NME personnel, and clerical staff. Additional empty posts will be filled during a second phase. The department aims to finish the entire process—from selection and document checks to handing out appointment letters—within six to seven months after releasing the official notification.
Expected Impact
Officials believe this drive will improve primary healthcare services in rural areas by placing dedicated teams at block and panchayat levels. Better staff numbers in hospitals will match patient loads and lower the workload on current employees. Furthermore, more nurses and lab technicians will help patients get timely reports, while managers and clerical staff will ensure government health schemes reach the public efficiently.
Context
Large-scale public sector recruitment drives are often used by state governments to address staff shortages in rural medical facilities. Gathering data across all districts helps authorities map out exact vacancies before releasing official job notifications.
