Power Finance Corporation declared a second interim dividend of ₹4.10 per equity share for FY27, sending its stock up 2.36% to close at ₹329.50 on the BSE. The board approved the payout, equal to 41% of the ₹10 face value, and set Tuesday, 17 November 2026 as the record date for eligibility. Shareholders listed on that date will receive the dividend on or before 12 December 2026, after tax deduction at source as prescribed by the Income Tax Act. The announcement came a day after PFC posted its September‑quarter results for FY27. Net profit slipped 2% year‑on‑year to ₹7,681.51 crore, down from ₹7,834.39 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year, while total income rose modestly to ₹29,234.42 crore from ₹28,901.10 crore a year earlier. Despite the profit dip, the share price extended gains for the third straight session, marking a near‑5% rise over three trading days. Over the past week the stock added 2.87%, though it remains down 16.85% over the last twelve months and 28.56% over two years. Longer‑term returns show a 25.93% gain in three years and a 200% jump over five years. Investors who owned PFC shares before the record date will benefit from the dividend, while the market reaction reflects confidence in the PSU’s cash flow despite a slight earnings slowdown.
Context
Power Finance Corporation is a Maharatna public‑sector undertaking that finances power generation and transmission projects across India; its dividend payouts are closely watched by investors as a gauge of the PSU’s profitability and cash availability.
