Reported by Manish Reddy (Senior Writer) · The Hindu - National ·
Metro Partnership
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has signed a deal worth sixty-five crore rupees with InMobi for the naming rights of the Ibbaluru Metro Station. This station sits on the Outer Ring Road corridor, which is also known as the Blue Line.
Revenue Goals
The metro body stated that this partnership will boost its non-fare earnings and help fund the development of metro infrastructure in the city. The station serves thousands of employees who work in IT companies along the busy Outer Ring Road.
Context
Transit authorities often sell station naming rights to private companies as a way to generate extra income beyond ticket sales. Such non-fare revenue helps offset the high costs of building and maintaining urban rail networks.
