Umesh U., head of the Department of Commerce at Amal College of Advanced Studies in Nilambur, has won a Guinness World Record for the most authors signing their own books at the same time.
The Record
A total of 1,572 authors signed their books together to set the new mark. This breaks the old record of 1,502 authors set at the Sharjah International Book Fair in 2019. Mr. Umesh received his official certificate last week at the IIT Madras Alumni Industry Interaction Centre in Chennai.
Partners And Volunteers
ESN Publications and the London Organisation of Skills Development worked together to organise the event. Eighteen fifth-semester B.Com students from Amal College volunteered to help out.
Past Records And Honors
This is not Mr. Umesh's first world record. In 2023, he took part in making the world's thickest unpublished book, which measured 5.80 metres long and had 100,100 pages. Member of Parliament P.V. Abdul Wahab honored Mr. Umesh for his latest win. The college management, principal, teachers, students, and alumni also joined in to congratulate him.
Context
World record attempts often bring together large groups of people to achieve specific milestones certified by global organizations. Academic institutions regularly encourage faculty and students to take part in such large-scale public events to build wider visibility.
