A Level-I fire erupted on Monday afternoon at a temporary production unit in Mumbai's Goregaon Film City, damaging a PCR unit on the set of the reality show "Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2". The incident occurred at Prime Focus Studio behind Reliance Media Works in Goregaon East, with the Mumbai Fire Brigade receiving the alert at 4:02 pm on October 5, 2026.

Damage and Response

The flames destroyed electric wiring, cables, wooden planks, air-conditioning units, bamboo and plastic materials, a sound system, and shooting equipment inside a PCR unit measuring roughly 100 feet by 20 feet. Emergency responders, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police, BMC ward control, and a 108 ambulance team, rushed to the spot, and firefighters put out the blaze entirely by 4:55 pm. Authorities confirmed that no injuries took place during the accident.

Reactions

Following the accident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association criticised the safety arrangements at Film City and called for a formal investigation. AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta stated on social media that recurring accidents continuously highlight serious questions regarding the safety of workers on production sets.

Context

Film City in Goregaon is a major hub for the Indian television and film industry, hosting numerous indoor and outdoor shooting sets at any given time. Temporary structures made of wood, plastic, and fabric are frequently erected for productions, making them vulnerable to electrical short circuits and rapid fire spread if strict safety protocols are overlooked.
