Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has directed officials to explore introducing Artificial Intelligence training in government schools starting from Class 6, building on existing classes for Class 9 students. Google has expressed interest in supporting this initiative, and officials will examine the company's similar programs in Telangana. The state also plans to establish a dedicated AI university and recruit 956 teachers on an outsourcing basis.
Education And Agriculture
Under school development plans, 941 urban schools must organize overnight rural visits for Class 9 and 11 students to progressive farmers' fields by December. For Karnataka Public Schools, foundation stone laying for 1,000 schools is set for November 14, with 100 schools funded through corporate social responsibility efforts. In agriculture, 25 lakh text messages have been sent under the CM Raitha Chaitanya Agritech Mission, and the JFarm app has gathered 2.5 lakh registrations for farm mechanization services ahead of a November 1 launch. The government also aims to train 2,000 farmers as exporters by March 2027 and develop four protein parks across Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Haveri, and Koppal.
Investments And Industries
State review meetings revealed that investment approvals have reached ₹ 43,214 crore, surpassing the initial ₹ 25,000 crore target for the 100-day period. The government has set a broader investment target of ₹ 50,000 crore by March 2027 to create one lakh jobs. An advanced manufacturing cluster is being set up across 4,513 acres in Doddaballapur, alongside a ₹ 50 crore common effluent treatment plant and a new Jeans Park project.
Context
State governments in India frequently review major infrastructure, education, and investment targets to track administrative progress over specific milestones like 100-day action plans. Integrating digital tools like AI training and app-based farming services reflects a broader push to modernize basic education and rural sectors. Large industrial clusters and manufacturing parks are standard state strategies aimed at drawing private capital and boosting local employment numbers.
