Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha producer Prakash Mahobiya is planning to re-release his film in theatres after claiming that its initial run was deliberately sabotaged by a negative online marketing campaign. Released in cinemas on September 25, 2026, and directed by Abhishek Singh, the mythological drama features Anjali Arora, Dev Sharma, Sheel Verma, and Rajniesh Duggall in lead roles.

Allegations of Sabotage

Speaking to India Today, Mahobiya stated that his project never got a fair chance to reach its audience because competitors and rival camps spread wrong information. He claimed that YouTubers and online influencers were paid or used to discourage viewers from watching his film, pointing to upcoming rival projects on the same epic subject. When asked directly if he was accusing the makers of Nitesh Tiwari's high-profile, two-part adaptation starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, Mahobiya admitted he did not know for sure and was only repeating what he had been told. He also acknowledged that his film faced heavy mockery and memes online regarding its visual effects starting right from the release of its first teaser.

Producer's Response

As a first-time producer in the film industry, Mahobiya admitted he lacked experience in proper movie marketing. He stated that despite financial losses, his main disappointment was that viewers missed out on seeing the project, noting that those who did watch it genuinely enjoyed it. He pointed out that his film was announced and ready for release long before competing big-budget versions went on floors, and he remains confident that audiences would appreciate the work if given another chance in theatres.

Context

Controversies and online meme culture frequently impact the box office performance of mid-budget Indian mythological films competing against massive, star-studded cinematic projects. Producers of smaller films often struggle to secure adequate screen counts and visibility when major studio productions dominate the theatrical landscape.
