CBSE has ordered every affiliated school to run a half‑hour session on inclusive education for pupils with special needs on 7 October 2026. The training, designed under guidance from the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy, seeks to build empathy and an inclusive mindset among all school employees. Teachers, ayahs, drivers, clerical staff, receptionists, deans, wardens, heads and other support workers must all attend. The module will be hosted on the PRASHAST online platform (prashast.education.gov.in) and can be viewed through the Video Tutorial option available after a headmaster logs in. Schools are asked to schedule the screening so it does not disturb core teaching activities while still achieving full participation. CBSE will monitor the number of institutions that watch the module across the country. This effort ties into the PRASHAST Screening Initiative launched this academic year, which aims to spot students with possible disabilities early and provide timely help. Sensitising staff is seen as a key step to ensure that identified children receive appropriate support within school premises. Principals and school heads have been instructed to make sure every member of their team joins the session. The Board hopes the move will create a more accessible and supportive environment for children with special needs.

Context

Inclusive education policies encourage schools to adapt teaching methods and facilities so that children with disabilities can learn alongside their peers. The PRASHAST programme is a government‑run effort to identify such learners early and arrange interventions.
